On June 21, 2026, the Pan American Wushu Federation (PAWF) held an online international preparatory meeting chaired by PAWF President Wu Tinggui. Presidents of national wushu federations, representatives of regional member associations, and technical officials from the United States, Canada, Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Haiti, Bermuda, Barbados, and other countries participated in the meeting to discuss and coordinate preparations for the 15th Pan American Wushu Championships and Traditional Kung Fu Championships 2026.

As the highest-level continental wushu event in the Pan American region, the Pan American Wushu Championships have been held biennially since their inception in 1996. Over the years, the event has become an important international platform for wushu competition and cultural exchange across North America, Central America, the Caribbean, and South America, playing a significant role in promoting regional wushu development and international cooperation.

Authorized by the Pan American Wushu Federation and organized by the Argentine Wushu Federation, the 15th Pan American Wushu Championships and Traditional Kung Fu Championships 2026 will take place in Argentina from October 8 to 12, 2026. The event will continue to serve as a major international platform for wushu in the Pan American region, bringing together athletes, coaches, referees, and martial arts enthusiasts from member associations throughout the Americas for both competitive and traditional martial arts exchanges.

During the meeting, member associations reported on their preparations for participation. Representatives from the United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Barbados, Bolivia, and other countries indicated that they are actively organizing teams and preparing registrations. Delegates from the Bermuda and Haiti Wushu Federations also expressed their commitment to continuing participation in the development of the Pan American wushu system and strengthening regional cooperation through competition and exchange.

This year’s championships will feature a wide range of events, including Taolu (Wushu Forms), Sanda (Chinese Kickboxing), Traditional Kung Fu, Taijiquan (Tai Chi), Wing Chun, and other disciplines. The competition aims to further integrate modern competitive wushu with traditional martial arts, enhance event diversity, and increase international participation.

In addition, through the implementation of unified competition rules and referee standards, the championships will continue to promote the standardization and professionalization of wushu events throughout the Pan American region.

To further strengthen the referee system and ensure consistency in technical standards, a Referee Training and Certification Course will be held on October 7, 2026, prior to the championships. The program will focus on the latest competition regulations and officiating standards, helping to elevate the overall quality of referees across the Americas and further improve the technical framework of the sport.

Registration for the championships is expected to open in July 2026. The Pan American Wushu Federation warmly welcomes athletes, coaches, referees, and martial arts enthusiasts throughout the Americas to participate and encourages all interested parties to follow the federation’s official channels for the latest event updates.
